General Intranet and Extranet Products
The following sites are aimed at the general public and/or small business market. Many of them are available for free as long as you are willing to put up with some advertising. These types of sites may be perfect for organizing groups for such things as charitable activities. As with all Web-based products, be sure to review their security and privacy policies before putting sensitive or confidential information on them. In addition, a number of these free sites have ceased operations, in some cases leaving customers with no way to access their data. See ASP concerns.
Intranets.com - "A private space on the web where your group can easily access and share documents, calendars and event information." Was available as a free service until June 30, 2001. Now there is a modest charge.
