OnStream offers an affordable and effective solution for backing up personal computers and servers. The US parent company filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection in March 2001, and shut its doors, but the company's Dutch operation plans to continue to offer products and support. UNFORTUNATELY, BASED ON MY EXPERIENCE, THE ONSTREAM DRIVES WILL NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS XP. THE NEW 1SAFE SOFTWARE FOR THE ONSTREAM DRIVE (BETA VERSION) CAUSED SEVERE SYSTEM INSTABILITY ON MY MACHINE. I HAVE NOW UNINSTALLED IT AND WILL NOT TRY IT AGAIN UNTIL IT IS NO LONGER A BETA VERSION.

Removable Hard Drives
Pockey - Probably the smallest removable hard drive available. 10 ($250) and 20 ($300) GB models. USB connection requires no external power supply.
Que M2 - 6-75 GB. Pricing probably slightly higher than Pockey. Using Firewire connection, it is faster than the Pockey, and you can stack units to increase storage capacity to 100GB, but its external power supply makes it less portable.
