Microsoft Moving to Limit License Terms

CNet News.com headline: "Microsoft may be changing its licensing practices, potentially compelling large companies to pay up every three years to continue using a piece of software." This seems to be part of a Microsoft strategy to move software from a purchase model to a rental model, requiring users to pay monthly or annual charges for the use of software (and generating more predictable revenue streams for Microsoft). Story.

ComputerUser.com Story says business customers that have waited three to four years to upgrade their Microsoft software may see their costs rise as much as 107%.
